Jelena has a big passion for neuroscience and ten years of experience in research. Her PhD thesis shed light on molecular and cellular mechanisms that shape brain development in mice. She went on studding neuronal circuits governing attention and social learning in songbirds at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. Subsequently, she applied for a Marie Sklodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellowship with Thomas Bugnyar as host at his CorvidLab at Vienna University. The focus of her research 2024-2026 includes complex social behavior and cognition in crows and doves and underlying physiology using a novel approach. She wants to use her knowledge to explore complex cognitive processes on cellular mechanistic, physiological, brain circuits and finally behavior level.
